Chen was born and raised in Malaysia but immigrated to the States with her family when she was 12-years-old. She graduated from UCLA with a chemical engineering degree and then pursued a Masters in Systems Engineering at Pennsylvania State University. It was during her undergraduate years that she first heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ and came to a saving knowledge of Him. Seeing how God transformed her own life, she now strives to shepherd younger women to live in full devotion to the Word of God.

Chen is married to her husband Ryan, and the two of them are proud parents of two daughters and a son.
